Can Opposites Exist?
The fact is that opposites do exist. Good and bad exist as will and light and darkness. Abundance and lack exist as well as health and sickness. A better question and a more important one would be: Can opposites exist in the SAME space at the SAME time? The answer to that question is, they cannot. Love and hate can never exist in the same space at the same time. Worshiping God and mammon cannot happen simultaneously either.
I would like to spend the rest of this article on abundance and lack since many reading this are seeking wealth and financial freedom. You only have one mind and if you occupy the real estate of your mind with lack, abundance can NEVER appear.
When you look at a bill, do you think thoughts of lack or abundance? If you are like me, your mind immediately thinks of lack. You think of the depletion of your bank account. Maybe you think, “I can’t afford to pay this.” These thoughts STOP the opposite (abundance) from appearing in your life.
To think abundant thoughts in the “appearance” of lack is difficult. Believe me, it is one of the most difficult exercises that you will ever encounter. One trick that I am learning is this: When I see a bill, I multiply the amount by 10 and give thanks to God for the multiplied amount that He is providing. This may sound crazy, but I think life is like a movie. A movie has a script and it “appears” real when that script is acted out. If you don’t like the movie of your life, just change the script and the outcome of your “movie” will change. It’s a “mind game,” but if you understand the way your mind works, you will understand the beauty of this exercise.
Giving thanks in advance is equally powerful. Gratitude draws into our life more of what we are grateful for, for in giving thanks we are focusing on what we desire and we are taking our mind off what we do not desire; in this case—lack. When you thank God for the abundance in your life, you are acknowledging Him as the source of your abundance and occupying your mind with thoughts of abundance. With a mind of gratitude for abundance, guess what will eventually show up in your life? That’s right—the very things you are grateful for.
Multiplying by 10 is powerful as well. The number 10, in the Bible, signifies human failure and God’s provision. Where we fail, God provides 10 times more! We just need to believe and trust in God instead of what is “apparent” in our lives.
Your life, right now, may “apparently” be in lack. If you remain in lack that just means that you are entertaining thoughts of lack. To turn the table around, you need to change your thoughts; thinking in terms of abundance by PRACTICING the exercise outlined above. Giving thanks for the provision of 10 times the amount of your debt. Again, this will take time and practice. Don’t expect an overnight success. Your lack came for a lifetime of WRONG thinking and focus. Your abundance won’t take a lifetime to manifest, but it may take weeks or even months. It all depends on belief. Changing beliefs takes time and the amount of time it takes depends on identifying false beliefs of lack (in this case) and replacing them with the beliefs of unlimited abundance. Remember, abundance and lack cannot occupy the same time and place. The one that dominates your thoughts will win.
Won’t you begin this practice with me? Begin to change your thinking by looking at debt, multiply it by 10, and be thankful to God for His abundant provision. Opposites do exist, but they cannot exist in the same time and space, so practice changing your thinking and beliefs. Develop a heart of gratitude, and in time, you life will change.
