Are You a Motivated Idiot?

I know that sounds offensive, but it might be true.  I know, because I WAS one!  Let me explain what I mean by being a motivated idiot…

Someone came to you (and me) one day and presented you with an opportunity to make money from home.  After hearing the presentation you got excited! The thought of making BIG money while in your PJ’s sounded pretty cool.  Staying home with the kids and going on long vacations sounded even better.  Paying off all debt and living a dream life of financial freedom sounded out of this world!  So what did you do?  You plunked down the money and joined the business opportunity.

Now this is where the idiot part comes in.  You are motivated and want to make the BIG BUCKS, but don’t have a clue what to do.  Your sponsor tells you to make a “vision board” and to think positive thoughts.  He or she tells you to make a list and talk to as many people are you can about your business.  So you make your vision board, say your affirmations, build your list, talk about your business to family and friends and guess what?  Nothing (or very little) happens and before you know if you are unmotivated and out of business!  Your dreams are dead and your hopes are dashed.  The problem is you do it all over again the next time an “opportunity” is presented and so the cycle continues until one day you just plain give up, quit, call it a day, throw in the towel, etc.  Why? Because you are what I call a MOTIVATED IDIOT (please don’t be offended because there is hope for you...honest)!

Practice Makes Progress

Practice is the ACTUAL application or use of an idea, belief, or method apposed to theories about such an application.

I see people all the time who talk about what they want.  How they are going to make it big and be rich “someday.”  The problem is that all they do is TALK.  It never goes beyond that.  Where is the ACTION!

Are you a big talker or do you practice being wealthy.  What I mean by that is are you taking daily action to become wealthy.  Every day I do things to become wealthy.  I blog with the desire to help others grow in their understanding of network marketing and success in general.  I watch my Mind Movie several times a day, envisioning myself with financial freedom and enough wealth to have what I want in life as well as plenty to give to others.  I read books, listen to special trainings about the industry and do lots of research on how to market effectively.  That is just the tip of the iceberg.   Each day I practice something that will usher me closer to my goals.  I realize that PRACTICE makes PROGRESS.

Every positive practice IS progress.  It might not seem like anything is happening right now, but if you are practicing, I can assure you that you are making progress.  Thomas Edison, whom I mention all the time because he is such a great example, practiced finding a way to succeed in his invention of the light bulb.  He practiced over 10,000 experiments before he was successful.  Each attempt led his closer to his goal.  I don’t know how long it took him, but it sure didn’t happen overnight.  It took days, weeks, and months of practice to get to his destiny.

Tiger Woods is another example.  He didn’t wake up one morning as a world-class golfer.  He practiced from a very young age, and all that practice added up to make him one of the greatest golfers of all time.  His reality was that practice made progress.

What are you doing to progress?  Are you reading, listening, learning, sowing, and growing?  Or are you wasting time watching TV, playing video games, attending party after party, or just plain goofing off?  If the latter is you case, you are not progressing; you are dying!

Remember this excellent phrase, “Practice makes Progress.”  It just could change your life!

The Law of Receptivity

This is the fifth and final article based on the book, THE GO-GIVER by Bob Burg and John David Mann.

The Law of Receptivity states that the key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving.

Do you have a problem receiving?  Is it hard for you to receive a gift without FEELING the need to pay someone back?  If it is, you need to see, experience, and accept the final law to stratospheric success: Receptivity.

Wonderful things have been happening to me since deciding to freely receive:  I have been getting MORE!  I have a habit of gifting books to people (giving), with no problem.  I think books are some of the greatest gifts one can give.  If they are good books, they can change a person’s life.  As I have been giving, all of a sudden I have been receiving books from others.  Now these are not just books, they are GREAT books. 

When I first started getting these books in the mail, I FELT a need to do something in return.  However, since I learned the Law of Receptivity, I have received the gifts with a big “Thank You.”  I dismiss all thoughts of needing to “pay the giver back.”  That attitude robs THEM of blessing.

Here is how the whole thing works.  You give and the result of your giving gives you a good FEELING.  Not only that, but your giving starts a flow of receiving.  If you don’t receive you end up stopping that flow and shut off the blessing to the giver. 

If you offer me a nice pen, and I don’t receive it from you, I cut off the blessing to you and stop the flow of receiving to me.  However, if I thankfully receive your gift I bring the blessing of giving into your life, which will bring you more receiving.  This is a cycle that we must NEVER stop!  So, don’t be a dam in this cycle.  Let it flow!  Give and be WILLING to receive and you WILL received beyond what you have given; pressed down, shaken together and running over!  Try it; you’ll like it!

The AAA's of MLM Success

Today I was considering a verse from the Bible where Jesus said, Ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you.

I was considering what this meant in my daily experience and in relation to my MLM business.  I then came up with the AAA’s of MLM success. 

First of all, I confess, I believe that the source of all riches, abundance, or whatever good you are seeking is from God.  Too often people try to achieve success without God, but it will never last.  God is the source and all wealth and wealth itself is the effect of coming to and acknowledging the source of all supply.  Being thankful to Him in and for all things.

Not meaning to be disrespectful, but it’s like the goose and the golden egg.  The goose was the source of the golden egg, but the foolish farmer was so focused on the effect (the golden eggs) that he killed the goose (the cause or source) of the golden eggs thus stopped the flow of eggs forever! 

So many network marketers focus on the effect (financial freedom) that they ignore the cause of all riches—God.  The Bible states that it is God who gives power to get wealth.  When we acknowledge and thank God from whom all riches flow, we find more riches flowing toward us in abundance.  Don’t be foolish and ignore God the source of all because an unthankful heart will cut off the flow of “eggs.” 

Having said that let’s discuss the AAA’s of MLM success:

Ask—the beginning point of all success.  Since God is the source, ask Him for what you want.  Acknowledge the Creator for who He is, Creator of All.  He can call things not being as being.  Whatever you need, ask Him.

Action—once you ask, just don’t sit there, take action by seeking for the answer.  The answer is not where you are; it’s somewhere “out there.”  Some person or opportunity exists as the answer; seek that answer.  Examine everything and everyone who comes into your life for you never know who or what will be the “door” of opportunity.

 

Acknowledge—now that you have asked and have taken action, a door of opportunity will come forth.  Acknowledge (knock) that door and it will be opened to you. The opening of that door will be by God to whom you asked.  You don’t have to even open it; just acknowledge it and God will open it for you!  The best way to “knock” is to give thanks.  When you do, the door opens.  Thus the circle of success is complete.

God is abundant and He is the source of all success.  He wants you to be a successful human being, but there are certain laws that have to be obeyed for that success to come.  For success in MLM, obey the AAA of MLM Success and watch you life change!

 

Discouragement - The Test of Success

It is not uncommon for network marketers to experience discouragement.  Discouragement often comes when you are trying to break out of the box.  When you are reaching for your dreams you are doing something that 97% of the population never does.  Dreaming is one thing; taking action to make those dreams come true is quite another.

Thomas Edison, no doubt, got discouraged when trying to discover the way to make the incandescent work.  He tried over 10,000 times!  Even though would get discouraged he kept on trying until the answer came...and it did!  

Napoleon Hill, author of THINK AND GROW RICH, got discouraged while trying to come up with the success formula to riches.  He spend over 20 years studying over 500 of the wealthiest people on the planet to come up with his now famous formula for success.  Though he was ridiculed for his attempt to do such a work, he kept on going until he succeeded.  Dr. Hill has probably produced more millionaires through his work than we will ever know.  Did he let discouragement keep him down?  If it did, the world would be a different place today.

My point is that discouragement must and will come.  It's what you do with it that makes all the difference.  God rewards those who persevere when others would just quit, and most will.

Are you a quitter, or are you one of the 3% that will fight on against all odds?  I can assure you that is you conquer discouragement you WILL eventually find the success you seek; you will reach the dreams you long for.

Success Starts on the Inside

Most people have it all wrong. They try to copy what others do and expect to get the same results. That may work for a short time, but true success starts on the inside. I teach people that outward doings will not produce lasting results. The first thing we have to do to gain lasting success is change our way of thinking.

It is said that we become what we think about. Our thoughts need to change. When they do, our world will change with them. One of the most powerful ways to change is the stop allowing the negative influences from without penetrate our mind. If you are a news junkie, you are in big trouble. I seldom hear good news on TV or the radio. CNN should be call, "Constant Negative News."

I hate listening to news or reading anything negative. Though this "bad news" may be a reality for others, it does not have to be for you. If you allow the garbage of the world to get into your thoughts you will live out the same. The trash that gets into our minds will come out of our mouth. When that happens, creation takes place. As we speak negative things we create for ourselves a negative world and thus end up with a less then desirable life.

How do you achieve success? Keep yourself positive. Invest in YOU. Read positive books everyday...yes everyday! Develop a good and healthy self-talk. Have you ever listened to the way to talk to yourself? If not, take a few days and listen. You will be surprised. No wonder success escapes so many. They talk themselves down and speak things into being by their demeaning self-talk. Change your inward talk and you will change your life. One of the best ways to do this is, like I said, invest in YOU. Purchase good books and audio programs. Shut off the radio in your car. Skip the news; you don't need it. Lose the newspaper and steer clear of gossip.
